Luck of the Irish and Essential Oils
I call myself a “pre-senior.” In my sphere of relationships most people I know are taking or have taken pharmaceuticals and it’s impacted their quality of life with complications and side-effects that compound the original health issue. I can look to my right and look to my left and there are people I know that are frustrated with the traditional healthcare treatment protocol but they are afraid to try anything different because they have been socialized to believe that the traditional western medical community knows best.
We just returned from a trip to Ireland and I was reminded of the different mindset when it comes to addressing health issues. Natural solutions are their first treatment choice.
Tom had a toothache and we went to a pharmacy and inquired of the pharmacist what she would recommend. She pointed to a shelf and said just take the Clove essential oil and apply it and it will stop the pain. BOOM!
We checked into the hotel in Belfast and beside the bed was a card outlining lifestyle changes and routines to implement to get more restful sleep and sitting on the card was a pillow and sheet spray containing Lavender, Vetiver, and other essential oils. BOOM!
People in Ireland only use pharmaceuticals when absolutely necessary. They are aware of natural alternatives and prefer them over the side-effect laden pharmaceuticals. Generations have grown up reaching for essential oils and other natural solution to achieve their health goals.
I am happy to see that natural alternatives are taking hold here is the USA. More and more people are getting frustrated with the traditional prescribed protocols and they are looking for easier, safer, and, many times, more effective alternatives. People do not have time to research natural solutions and so they are turning to trusted, proven companies, like dōTERA, to address their health concerns and achieve their health goals.
The medical community in the USA is beginning to jump onboard too. dōTERRA has partnered with the medical community to open clinics where essential oils will be a prescribed protocol. BOOM!
Our pets and animals suffer the side-effects and complication from pharmaceuticals too. More and more veterinarian are open to using essential oils in their practices. As with human medicine, it started with the calming oils and it has spread to specific treatment protocols. Interestingly, we are accustomed to research on animals and then extrapolating to use on humans but with essential oils the research is primarily on humans and we then extrapolate to use on our pets and animals.
The research is compelling – just go to pubmed (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/) and search Frankincense, for example, and you will see a myriad of research articles with studies that are available to both the medical community and consumers. Due to the FDA rules and oversight, web re not permitted to say that essential oils treat or cure ailments but its all there in the documents discussing study after study where essential oils have been shown to be effective treatment protocol for serious health concerns – even the “C” word. BOOM!
In our home we have disposed of most over-the-counter and prescribed pharmaceuticals. We, like in Ireland and many other countries, reach for essential oils for most of our health issues and to achieve our health goals. Yes, we are “pre-senior” and aging is a part of life but we don’t have to suffer, we don’t have to live with chronic pain, and we don’t have to experience side-effects of our treatment choices. We feel the best we have in years – here’s to you health!
